BJK Cup: Indonesia Stages Comeback to Defeat South Korea

Facing South Korea in the Group I Asia/Oceania tie on Friday (April 10), the Merah Putih squad managed to turn things around and secure a 2-1 victory.

In the first singles match, Priska Madelyn Nugroho, who was fielded as the opener, had to concede to Dayeon Back. In a tightly contested match that lasted 2 hours and 47 minutes, Priska fell in a three-set battle, 5-7, 6-3, 2-6, putting Indonesia behind early.

In the following match, Janice Tjen, who was trusted to play the second singles, kept Indonesia’s hopes alive. Delivering a dominant performance against Eunhye Lee, Janice needed only two straight sets to level the score at 1-1, winning 6-2, 6-2.

Entering the deciding doubles match, the pair of Aldila Sutjiadi/Janice Tjen showed solid form against BoYoung Jeong/Eunhye Lee. Without much difficulty, the Indonesian duo sealed the match with a 6-4, 6-3 victory, ensuring Indonesia’s overall win. This result puts Indonesia firmly at the top of the standings and strengthens their chances of advancing to the playoff qualifiers.
